What is Boiler Plus?
Since April 2018 all new boiler installations must have time and temperature controls fitted ( unless they are already present and working correctly).
Combination boilers – require a programmable room thermostat with a built in function like weather compensation, load compensation or smart controls.
Heat only or system boilers – require a room thermostat with a separate programmer or you could opt for a smart thermostat which usually are a 2 in 1 unit.

A programmer allows you to schedule your heating and hot water needs from the programmer unit. Separate to this you would have a room thermostat where you set your desired room temperature.
Room thermostat
Compatible with:
Regular boilers, System boilers and back boilers with stored hot water.
A room thermostat works together with a separate programmer. The purpose of the room thermostat is to enable you to set your desired room temperature and once this has been archived your thermostat will send a signal to your boiler to switch off. Room thermostats comes in both wired and wireless models.
Programmable room thermostat

Combination boilers
Programmable room thermostats are installed with a combination boiler. This unit allow you to set your heating schedule but also set the required room temperature, all from one unit.
Smart heating controls
Compatible with:
All boiler types and models
The newest addition on the market are the much loved “smart heating controls”.
These heating controls compromise of 1 units only no matter what type of boiler you currently have.
If you currently have a programmer with a separate room thermostat then you will only have 1 smart thermostat which acts as a 2 in 1 unit. From here you can both program your heating schedule and set the desired room temperature.
If you have a combination boiler, your existing thermostat would be replaced by the smart heating control which is 1 unit.
You will be able to control your smart control both from the unit itself at home but also from your phone or tablet!
